Questions
– (04:25) – We’re going to go to our e-mail box. We received this question and here’s what this individual writes. They say : With the recent event of mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas where many died, especially kids, how do we explain this to children like my Granddaughter who is 7 years old and in first grade? So this is, I’m sure, on the hearts of many individuals, so Pastor how would we respond to that?
– (09:40) – Good evening gentlemen, how y’all doing? My question is – is there any indication anywhere of the duration or the timeframe that Job suffered through his trials?
– (11:08) – Hey, this is my question. It has nothing to do with what happened in Uvalde. I’ve been grappling with this my entire Christian life. The reference is Roman 6:3, where it says that we have been baptized into the death of Christ. And then, Colossians 3:3 says that you are dead and your life is hidden with Christ in God. So, those two seem to be theoretical – that we’ve been baptized into the death of Christ. But in 2nd Corinthians 5:14, it says “For the love of Christ constrains us because we let us judge that if one died for all, then we’re all dead. So my question is how can we be dead in Christ on a daily basis? That’s the question. Thank you.
– (15:25) – My question comes out of John 14:12 where He said “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” Some people believe that Christians are able to do greater works or the same works that Jesus did like raising people from the dead. I say that the greater works that he is referring to is spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
– (19:20) – Good evening y’all. Are there apostles today? Do they exist in our modern era? I understand Acts 1:21 talks about the requisites to be an Apostle – you would have to see Jesus Christ resurrected. I was wondering was Barnabas a part of the 12 Apostles?
– (23:10) – My question is – where does leprosy come from? Is it a sex sin dealing with incest? What sin is it (from)?
– (24:42) – (From emails) – I’ve heard two scenarios of what happens to the unsaved at the end. One says that all unbelievers will be judged and thrown into the Lake of Fire for the rest of Eternity. And then they quote Revelation 20 verses 11 through 15. And then continue – they say Christ says something to this effect in the gospels – Matthew 5:22 through 23, among others. Yet others say that only Satan and the angels will be thrown into it (meaning the Lake of Fire) and the unbelievers will be judged but then cease to exist – Body Soul and Spirit. (I guess they’re talking about annihilation there). They referred to the scripture that says the unsaved will die the second death or that they will perish. And then, they go on to say scripture says that the unsaved will live for the rest of eternity in Heaven, but doesn’t seem to clarify if all Souls are immortal. So, they would like some clarification on that.
– (34:10) – First of all I’d like to thank you for all the wonderful things you do at Sugar Land Bible Church. It’s just wonderful. My question starts out in Revelation 21 and verse 7 – it says “he that overcometh shall inherit all things and I will be his God and he shall be my son, but the fearful and unbelieving and the abominable and murderers and whoremongers and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death”. And I see the context of this chapter is the New Heavens and the New Earth. But then when I turn over to chapter 22 in Revelation and verse 14, it says “Blessed are they that do His commandments that they may have right to the Tree of Life and may enter in through the gates into the city”. Verse 15 – “for without are dogs and sorcerers and whoremongers and murderers and idolaters and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie”. My question – who are these people in verse 15 and where are they? Where do they come from?
– (38:30) – Good evening. I apologize for not knowing the scripture, but I think you Pastors might know the scripture. It’s concerning the Sabbath day. I talked to a friend of mine and I said the Sabbath Day says you should not buy or sell or kindle a fire or do any servile work on the Sabbath Day. And the commandment is to honor – remember the Sabbath Day to keep it Holy. So my question is, as Christians, are we supposed to do that today? Can you speak on that for me?
– (41:45) – I was wondering what the early church thought of Sola Scriptura?
– (43:10) – Dr. Woods, I called in a while back. I was in the Book of Mark at the very end of chapter 16 where I think it’s a textual criticism or something where they leave out verses 9 through 20. I was just wondering. I think you said it was because it wasn’t in the original text. But I am just wondering, and by all means, I don’t believe that the word of God is inerrant, so you know you can throw that out the door. I’m just wondering who was responsible for adding that, those verses 9 through 20 into the scriptures where it kind of helps me understand how things transpired.
– (48:45) – Hello Pastor, great to hear from you again. What is the significance of the order of Melchizedek? I know it can be a pretty deep topic. But why is it important that Christ is known as the Priest of the order of Melchizedek? I know you get into the election of the priests and I guess that’s what I’m curious about. Why is it important that he’s known as that?
– (51:59) – Dr. Woods, I hope everything is going well with you. One thing that I would like you to explain and go over. That is that the New Testament was written with a whole lot of words. They turned around and condensed it. And when they condensed it, they didn’t put in as many words. Now, when you go back and look at it – take the word “perfect” – prime example. You go back and look at it. It did not mean what we think it means. It had a total different meaning to it. And I run into trouble with a lot of people trying to understand that. And also, when you start going back in – secret things belong to God. He gives us enough things to worry about. There’s enough in here written for me to worry about. If I just get some of these accomplished, I’ll be doing great. Thank you, sir.
– (55:20) – Oh yes, good evening. My question is and you kind of touched base on it earlier and I was trying to run parallel to it. I know the Word of God says that those to be absent in the body is present with the Lord. And then, in the Book of Revelation we read about where, you know, the dead in Christ shall rise first. I guess that’s where I am having a little (trouble) understanding. If the dead in Christ shall rise first, but then we read where to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Can you give me some understanding on that? I would greatly appreciate it and God bless you.
– (57:45) – Did Jesus die spiritually on the cross as well as physically?
